Session 6

With everything more or less ready. Me, Edmund, our dog and a new companion and also a pack carrier which was a donkey have set off towards the unknown again.

We spent the next 8 hours or so traveling to the swarmp we were going through earlier. After arriving at it we set up a proper camp and called it a day.

Our new donkey was content with just eating some plants over the journey so we had a bit of a surplus.

The nexy day we started exploring the swamp properly.

After we woke up I saw Edmund cursing under his breath. Turns out the food we packed at Woodriver has all spoiled, what a disaster.

But I will not allow this expedition to simply end with us having to go back. We still have the water so we can just hunt.

We spent the day trying to get some food and restock our water.

Fortunately we were able to obtain some, for today and the next three days or so.

We set off towards the east.

It was a thick forest just like south of this place.

There was nothing worth noting in this area so we moved towards the north.

It was another swamp, how delightful.

I double down on what I think of this swamp. Our donkey has fallen down into a deep bog and it would surely die if not for me using my earth word magic to harden the thing it fell into.

The water of the bog was causing issues but I pulled more earth to reinforce the donkey position from the surrounding. This was enough time for Edmund and I to pull the donkey from it with some struggle. Thankfully it didn't die.

Earth Word Spell 2 cost, hardened roughly 5x10ft area of bog for a minute.

The sack that the donkey had on it wasn't too dirty and its contents were safe.

Later on during the day we have found a ruined fortress that dwelled in this swamp for reasons unknown.

We came closer to it to explore what secrets it held.

The structure was partly made out of earth, it had some geometric shapes and twisted in a helix.

The whole thing had a lot of water spilling from the swamp into it.

From my knowledge the place dons markings of old exiles from kingdoms lost. A prison of sorts that fell along with some kind of local massacre.

It looks like it was maintained long ago.

Just as we were exploring we encountered a pack of six ghouls.

The ghouls were sitting inside the fortress, we almost didn't notice them. Fortunately for us they didn't spot us yet so we managed to leave their territory safely. What a close encounter.

We traveled towards the east.

Still a swamp. Hopefully this time without a pack of ghouls.

Due to our exploration efforts, the food ran out again so we searched the area the next day for some supplies.

We found some but just enough to fill our bellies. It was also the sixth day so I decided to head home with the party. I also need to check upon my business.

The return took two days due to terrain. We had to camp to rest and endure our hunger. At last the Woodriver welcomed us however.

We all returned to our rented house after buying ourselves some food for the night.

In the morning Edmund went off to do his own things. The donkey was left to graze near the house yard and I took my dog with me.

Let's see how the jewelry shop did.

Well, well, well. The manager welcomed me into the shop and told me that the business was running smoothly all week, nothing unusual occured and the income after paying all the wages and other things ended up with me getting wealthier by 27 gold coins. Wonderful.

This will pay for the few days food and rent for the next expedition.
