Session 5
Using my connections within the Mage Academy I was able to secure safe sale of the treasure because otherwise the normal merchants I know of will have trouble buying the jewelry I have.
The jewelry we found came out at 960 gold pieces for the cheap ones and 1200 gold pieces for the costly ones. However since I'm selling this on short notice I only get about a quarter of the value. If I had a jewelry shop that could sell it over longer time then I could sell it for half, a genuine buyer who was looking for something specific could pay the full price. So was explained to me due to my connections.
So all in all the jewelry has sold for 540 gold pieces. Ultimately combined with the coins we found, my share comes out to 1356 gold more or less. I will be able to make a few magic items or scrolls with that kind of money. I also need to rent some kind of room or even house with a chest to safely store my money.
Then I spent a week working over several things in Woodriver, since the adventure was over for now. I had asked Edmund if he wished to stay with me still. He agreed and as thanks I have bought him a bow, a new armor as well as making him two healing potions which have cost me 40 gold each as they are a bit more powerful than the weakest ones. He will use them in emergency.
The dog armor cost half of what a human would need due to its size. It also weights 20 lbs so I had to have Edmund carry half the dog supplies while I take the other half. In addition to that I have bought us a donkey for carrying our supplies, it was more for Edmund still as the armor is heavy and I don't want to encumber him.
With this we can go on for four days without trouble.
Besides that I have rented a house in Woodriver. I thought for a moment about building one but the costs were still staggering even with my newfound riches.
I have paid for a month worth of rent and bought a heavy chest to be placed inside that will be used to safely store my money inside.
In the mage academy I was able to buy a few precious spell components, restock the old ones and also buy a lightning element one that is a piece of wood struck by lightning. Quite uncommon thing.
The biggest spending was me going to the town noble mansion and requesting a permit to open a business of my own. The expenditure came up to 200 gold which was spent on the permit, renting a building, searching and hiring workers as well as some advertisement in the form of town criers.
The business I have opened was a jewelry shop. Not only will it bring me money on its own but also allow me to sell such loot over a longer period of time for a bigger price.
After all this I had little over 800 gold and I spent so little on my own equipment.
Speaking of equipment I had several magic scrolls from before. Using my own magical skill I have been able to identify them. Unfortunately most of them were worthless to me. Just two were useful. Monster Insect summoning scroll as well as Arrow Wave attack scroll.
The other four were sold to the academy for a quarter of their market price, which was 5 gold for the weaker ones and 20 gold for the stronger ones.
I took the two scrolls for my usage and gave Edmund a bigger share of the money as he wouldn't be able to use the scrolls as easily. Perhaps I will teach him to use magical scrolls in the future, provided he follows me still.
The last thing I did was create a spell focus for my lightning word, the simple iron ring has tiny bolts of lightning course through it and allows me to cast lightning spells cheaper than normal. It also has cost me 100 gold to create. My first permanent magic item of sorts.
As the week was over and the jewelry shop is going to open tomorrow. I have bought supplies for us all and prepared for another expedition with Edmund and my dog, hopefully riches await us. I should also come back within a week to check upon my business.
